For Producer Organisations
Enterprises that have producer responsibility obligations can set up a producer organisation to discharge the obligations on their behalf. The producer organisation may only include producers as members, and producers may only delegate their obligations to a producer organisation that has been approved to the producer register. For instructions on setting up a producer organisation, see:
A producer organisation can be approved to the producer register if:
- The producer organisation is founded by producers and has legal capacity
- It has a template for the membership agreement, and the payment amounts have been decided
- It has a sufficient collection network
- Contracts are in place for waste collection, transport and recycling
- It has provided an account of its financial standing and an action plan to address non-conformities
- Its operation complies with the Waste Act and Decree
