For Consumers and Housing Companies
Manufacturers, importers, distance sellers and packers of certain products are responsible for the waste management of their products. It makes recycling easy and efficient. Let’s work together to collect and recycle materials!
Extended Producer Responsibility applies to these products:
- Batteries and accumulators (incl. inside vehicles and electrical equipment)
- Vehicles
- Packaging
- Paper and paper products
- Tyres
- Electrical and electronic equipment
- SUP products
According to the national Waste Act, manufacturers, importers, distance sellers and packers of the above-mentioned products have both an obligation and the right to organise the waste management of their products when they are decommissioned.
Extended Producer Responsibility covers the collection, transport and waste treatment/recycling of the products. Parallel waste collection systems may only be established in cooperation with the producer.
Producers of certain single-use plastic products, i.e. manufacturers, importers or packers, pay municipalities the costs of cleaning up littering caused by their products, as well as the costs of preventing littering, i.e. organizing waste management.
Objectives of Extended Producer Responsibility
- Helps prevent the generation of waste and promote the recovery of waste
- A collection network with nation wide and dense coverage
- The final owner of the product receives information about collection sites and waste management
- Producers belong to producer organisations or individually registered to the producer register
