Who is a distance seller?
A distance seller is a company or another operator who sells products covered by Extended Producer Responsibility directly to the user in another country. A distance seller is responsible for the products and packaging that they sell.
In Finland, distance sellers have had to meet Extended Producer Responsibility obligations from 19.7.2021.
A distance seller established in Finland is an operator who sells products covered by Extended Producer Responsibility from Finland to another country directly to the user.
A foreign distance seller is an operator established abroad who sells products covered by Extended Producer Responsibility directly to Finnish users (consumers or businesses). Also sellers established in another EU country are considered foreign distance sellers.
