Global Talent Connect – Targeted recruitment for the needs of the Vaasa region

Global Talent Connect (GTC) is a new concept and a recruiting event by University of Vaasa, Vaasa University of Applied Science, Vaasa Spouse Programme, Vaasa International Talents and Ostrobothnia TE Office. The goal of the event is all about bringing together talented internationals in the Vaasa region with local companies who need their skills and expertise either right now or in the near future. The event is tailor-made to meet the needs of the participating companies and the international professionals. The concept was piloted at the Wasa Future Festival in August 2023.

The next Global Talent Connect event will be organized on April 24, 2024, and will be targeted for companies and talents in Business and Energy.

What is Global Talent Connect?
The goal of the Global Talent Connect (GTC) event is all about bringing together talented internationals in the Vaasa region with local companies who need their skills and expertise either right now or in the near future. The event is tailor-made to meet the needs of the participating companies and the international professionals – the focus is on the key aspect of successful recruitment: connecting people and building relationships.

GTC consists of two parts:
- Preparatory workshop
- Recruiting event
  - Group discussions (informal discussion between international talents and company representatives)
  - 1:1 meetings (10 minutes face-to-face meeting with a company representative (schedule is based on matching)
  - Networking lunch
GTC is organized by University of Vaasa, Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, Vaasa Spouse Programme, Vaasa International Talents and Ostrobothnia TE Office.

Global Talent Connect consists of two parts:

Preparatory workshop "Understanding where you are – Finnish working life"

  - Time-restricted free parking area, use parking-disc
Global Talent Connect event
- When? Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 9.00-14.30
- Where? Ankkuri (University of Vaasa campus)
  - Parking areas are indicated with a P. There are places for guests near Tervahovi, Technobothnia and Fabriikki. You need a permit to park in the university car parks. Visitors can get a temporary parking permit from the information desks.

Sneak peek of the first GTC in August 2023

The first Global Talent Connect was piloted at the Wasa Future Festival on Tuesday August 8, 2023. It offered a unique platform for networking for six companies – ABB, Arcteq, Barona, TK Engineering, Wapice and Wärtsilä – and 60 international talents. The event started with group discussions between talents and company representatives, and was followed by 1-on-1 meetings (all together 108 1-on-1 meetings). The results of the event were positive. About 25 percent of the talents got invitation to a new meeting/interview, of which a few job a job.
