  • Rural businesses

    If you are starting or planning to start a business in a rural area, you can receive start-up assistance:

    • for business trials for part-time entrepreneurship
    • for full-time entrepreneurship
    • for starting a farm-related business
    • for planning a change of ownership in a sparsely populated or rural core area Rural business start-up assistance is granted in the Uusimaa region by the regional Leader groups. ​

  • Business development grant

    1. Business development grant is granted for development or investment projects of SMEs that are related to growth, product development and the development of services and processes or internationalization.

    The funding policies and support levels of the ELY Centres apply to the funding. Before submitting an application, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with the ELY Centre's funding policies.

    In the Uusimaa region, development grants are granted by the Häme ELY Centre.

    Development of rural enterprises

    Rural enterprises can apply for support for the development of their business operations. For example, the following measures may be eligible for support:

    • The purchase of business training advice and other expert assistance
    • Product development projects
    • Marketing development
    • Internationalisation studies
    • Investment feasibility studies

    In the Uusimaa region, business development support is granted by the Uusimaa ELY Centre and the region's Leader groups.

    Business group development project in rural areas

    A group of 3–10 companies can develop their operations together with a maximum of 75% assistance. The project must be managed by a development organisation such as an advisory organisation or a development company. Support is allocated to participating companies as De minimis support. The aim of the measures may be, for example, the development of production cooperation, the development of marketing or sales cooperation or the planning of a product family. Business group projects are granted as development project support.

    Investments for rural enterprises

    Companies starting up and expanding in rural areas can apply for support, for example, for acquiring or building production facilities, purchasing machinery and other fixed assets, and for intangible investments, such as software, patents and manufacturing rights. Support can also be received for research into the conditions and implementation of the investment. The investment must be of essential importance to the establishment, growth or development of the company.

    Investment support in the Uusimaa region is granted by the Uusimaa ELY Centre and the region's Leader groups, which support small-scale investments.

    Finnvera involved in financing investments

    Finnvera strengthens the operating conditions and competitiveness of Finnish companies by offering loans, guarantees and export guarantees. Finnvera shares the risk involved in financing with other financiers.

    Investments often require capital. If your company lacks the collateral required by the bank, a Finnvera guarantee can be a solution for arranging bank financing.
