Describe the event or result: Whole-day event with morning coffees, presentation on current IAS situation in the focus area and info on the most probable IAS pathways for spread. After lunch we continued into ELY/INSPIRE’s suggestions for IAS management capacity building within each participating municipality and presentation on the foreseen good results that may come with municipalities working together.

Describe the event or result: Länsstyrelsens Linda Backlund gave a presentation about cost-efficient methods in the world of IAS: supervision strategies, landowner engagement, common communication material and national IAS control method catalogue.

Organizer and participants: Länsstyrelsen in the four northern counties, municipalities from the north of Sweden (almost 100 participants)

Describe the event or result: Yearly IAS-days for the municipalities in the northern parts of Sweden that is hosted by the CAB-s. INSPIRE joined to talk about the engagement model and the municipality guide.
Date and time: 4.2.2025 – Pre-seminar presentation and panel discussion in Viherpäivät national event for professionals in green infrastructure builders.
Organizer and participants: Viherympäristöliitto, ELY INSPIRE and Natural Resources Institute of Finland. 40-50 live participants plus 4 panel discussion members

Describe the event or result: We offered information on IAS pathways of spread, IAS lists of EU- and national concern and then moved on to discuss the various challenges IAS cause the field of green building and what measures should be taken to solve these challenges. The audience were able to participate by joining a live Mentimeter-survey and sending their questions to the panelists. The esteemed panelists were Päivi Kortelainen (Green area specialist and IAS manager for the City of Jyväskylä), Taina Suonio (Chelsea Flower Show-award winning horticulturist, researcher and landscape entrepreneur), Sami Kiema (dendrologist and nature and green area consultancy entrepreneur) and Miia Korhonen (IAS management entrepreneur, Luontoturva Ky).

Describe the event or result: A whole-day event with presentations on various topics and finally a panel discussion. ELY INSPIRE gave a presentation on INSPIRE’s plans and pathways of spread for the IAS and how the probability of spread for invasive alien species is growing with warming climate and its effects on the growing season and winter time.

Describe the event or result: The event had a total visitor number of 91 000, of which we estimate 2 000 – 3 000 passing by the ELY stand area. INSPIRE planned IAS material (printed species-specific management instructions) and manned activities aimed at children and families; we had a very popular “wheel of Fortune” apparatus with task to identify whether a species was IAS or native. The other was game “of IAS management”, where you gather points by throwing beanbags through holes in a wall, where each hole represented a different IAS species and its points.
